  • The provisions for the granting of nationality to an Arab citizen, or, in other words, any person who holds the nationality of a State of the League of Arab States, are governed by article 4, which provides that any Arab who has normally been resident in Jordan for a period of not less than 15 consecutive years is entitled to be granted Jordanian nationality, by decision of the Council of Ministers based on a recommendation by the Minister of the Interior, if he renounces his original nationality in a written declaration, provided that such is permitted under the laws of his country and on condition that: he is of good conduct and repute; has not been convicted of an offence prejudicial to honour or morality; has a legitimate means of livelihood; is of sound mind and unafflicted with any disability that would make him a burden on society; and that he takes the oath of loyalty and allegiance to His Majesty the King before a justice of the peace.
    فالمادة (4) منه تنظم أحكام منح الجنسية بالنسبة للمواطن العربي أي من يحمل جنسية إحدى دول الجامعة العربية، حيث تنص على أنه يحق لكل عربي يقيم عادة في الأردن مدة لا تقل عن خمس عشر سنة متتالية أن يحصل على الجنسية الأردنية بقرار من مجلس الوزراء بناء على تنسيب وزير الداخلية إذا تخلى عن جنسيته الأصلية بإقرار خطي وكانت قوانين بلاده تجيز له ذلك، شريطة أن يكون حسن السيرة والسلوك وغير محكوم عليه بأية جريمة ماسة بالشرف والأخلاق، وأن تكون له وسيلة مشروعة للكسب، وأن يكون سليم العقل غير مصاب بعاهة تجعله عالة على المجتمع، وأن يقسم يمين الولاء والإخلاص لجلالة الملك أمام قاضي الصلح.
